SURFISTAS
A story of waves, resilience and sisterhood.
In the rugged shores of the Great Lakes, where winter’s chill meets unrelenting waves, a remarkable community of women has taken shape. Founded by Robin Pacquing, LAKE SURFISTAS began as a way to meet new surf buddies. They had no idea they were creating something much bigger that would soon evolve into a sisterhood celebrating resilience, passion and the fearless pursuit of adventure.
Our film follows Robin and her friends as they suit up for a winter surf. Sharing pivotal moments that forged a unique bond, they’ll look back on a decade long commitment of fostering a vibrant, close-knit community of women united by a shared passion for lake surfing.

COLD WATER
On the roughest days, you’ll find surfers chasing the waves of The Great Lakes.
COLDWATER is an environmental surf documentary series about the state of our country’s fresh water supply. The project focuses on The Great Lakes, their health and those dependant on them.
The idea is to use lake surfing culture as a vehicle to tell this story. Lake surfing seems to be as unique as the lakes themselves. The people that surf these waters have great respect for them. Violent currents, sub zero temperatures and high winds tend to demand that of a person.
The five Great Lakes, make up 21% of the world’s surface freshwater. When it is deemed unsafe to swim in, water pollution becomes a deeper issue beyond recreational activity. It affects the surrounding ecosystems and communities along with the greater population of our country that rely on our fresh water supply. With our close proximity to so much fresh water we often neglect to realize how invaluable they truly are, and take this for granted.

RINK RATS
The life of a motley crew of siblings, finding ways to entertain themselves in the hockey arenas they frequent during their brothers’ pewee hockey games.
I was a rink rat. I grew up in arenas across Southern Ontario and for a period of time, my preteen life revolved around my brother’s hockey schedule. I wasn’t old enough to stay home alone and my parents, especially my mother aka the “Bell Lady” were massive hockey fanatics. Our family minivan had a lingering odor of sweaty jockstrap from teenage boy body odor. There was always a cooler full of orange slices and Gatorade kept on ice and the floor was littered with hockey card wrappers and aluminium foil balls for mini stick tournaments. My weekend playmates became the other siblings trapped in the rinks with me. So, we learned to adapt to the cold, drank an unhealthy amount of slushies and found ways to entertain ourselves until playoffs.
Narrative Feature set in hockey arenas in small town, Canada.
